(NEXSTAR) – As an intense Arctic chill spreads across much of the United States this Friday, approximately 177 million individuals find themselves under advisories for icy conditions and snowfall.
In the Northeast, where snow is a familiar winter visitor, states are bracing for potentially record-breaking snowfalls. Connecticut’s governor, Ned Lamont, has advised residents to stock up on essentials early and to remain indoors on Sunday for safety.
Meteorologists highlight the unique threat of this storm due to its southern reach, where icy conditions are expected to mix with a system originating from the Gulf, likely resulting in snow, sleet, and freezing rain affecting southern regions.
