‘A special place’: Florida’s newest state park opens to visitors

DEFUNIAK SPRINGS, Fla. (WFLA) — Florida’s natural landscape enthusiasts now have a fresh destination to discover, as the state’s newest park has officially opened its gates. The announcement was made on Friday, marking an exciting addition for outdoor adventurers.

Shoal River Headquarters State Park is situated just to the west of DeFuniak Springs. Spanning 2,480 acres, the park offers a picturesque setting with its undulating sandy hills and towering pine canopies. The park’s serene streams feed into the Shoal River, creating a tranquil environment for visitors.
