The camaraderie between “Boston” Rob Mariano and Dylan Efron is alive and well. The duo, who once shared the spotlight on The Traitors, appeared on Today With Jenna & Sheinelle to discuss their latest venture, a reality competition show titled Everything’s A Competition. During the Friday segment on January 23, host Sheinelle Jones couldn’t resist teasing them about their competitive nature.

Jones prompted, “You’re both quite competitive. Let’s be honest—who among you is the superior reality TV contestant?”

Efron didn’t hesitate to acknowledge Mariano’s prowess, gesturing towards him as the better contestant. Mariano, with his trademark candor, responded, “I’ve been at this for 25 years. He’s just getting started.”

Jones found Mariano’s confidence amusing and quipped, “You’re basically saying, ‘Check back with me in a decade.'”

Mariano’s reaction made Jones laugh. “You’re like, ‘Talk to me in a decade,’” she joked.

Even Efron had to admit that Mariano had a point. “I’ve got a good track record but that’s two shows,” he pointed out.

Efron has been forging a new career as a reality television personality. He was one of the faithful finalists who won The Traitors Season 3, where he met Mariano. He then followed that up with a memorable turn on Dancing With The Stars in 2025 where he finished in fourth place with his partner, Daniella Karagach.

Mariano, on the other hand, has become a reality television legend. He competed on Survivor five times since 2001, becoming the only contestant to do so, before later competing in The Traitors Season 3. Mariano shined as a traitor but was eventually banished.

However, the co-stars developed a serious “bromance” on the show and have since reunited for their own YouTube reality competition series.

Everything’s A Competition, which is streaming on Efron’s YouTube, features Mariano and Efron challenging each other’s skills in a variety of activities – from golf to pottery and sword fighting – to see who will come out on top.

“Dylan is one of the guys that can just do it all, but that doesn’t mean I can’t still give him a run for his money. After The Traitors, we came up with the idea for Everything’s a Competition because that kid loves to show off his skills, and I love to put him in his place,” Mariano said in a statement when the show was announced.

New episodes of Everything’s A Competition air weekly on Thursdays on YouTube.

Today with Jenna & Sheinelle airs on weekdays at 10/9c on NBC.
