On Saturday, Mayor Mamdani expressed strong criticism of ICE, alleging the agency is instilling fear across American cities. His remarks followed the fatal shooting by federal agents of a 37-year-old armed protestor opposing ICE in Minneapolis.

“While tens of thousands rally nationwide against the unchecked violence perpetrated by ICE, federal agents today took another life in Minneapolis,” Mamdani shared on X, continuing his vocal criticism of the agency.

Authorities reported that the individual shot on Saturday was armed with two magazine clips and had no identification. Officials described the situation as one where the person appeared intent on causing maximum harm to law enforcement.

The shooting marked the third by federal agents in Minneapolis this month, including the high-profile shooting of Renee Good, which has sparked mass protests in the Minneapolis-St. Paul area.

The suspect in Saturday’s shooting had two magazine clips and lacked identification, according to the feds, who said “this looks like a situation where an individual wanted to do maximum damage and massacre law enforcement.
