Victor Osimhen carved his name into Galatasaray lore on Saturday night, setting a new record as the quickest player to net 50 goals for the club. His landmark achievement came during a commanding 3-1 triumph over Fatih Karagumruk in the Turkish Super Lig.
The Nigerian forward reached this impressive milestone in just 59 matches, scoring in the second half to solidify a composed performance by the league leaders, further extending their lead at the top of the standings.
Galatasaray entered the clash at the Atatürk Olympic Stadium with clear intentions of maintaining their stronghold in the title chase. They wasted no time in establishing control, quickly setting the pace for the match.
Early pressure sets the tone
The visitors grabbed an immediate advantage within the first minute when Gabriel Sara seized upon a defensive misstep as Karagumruk tried to play from the back. He coolly finished to put Galatasaray ahead right from the start.
Despite their struggles to secure a grip on the game, the home side capitalized on one of their few attacking opportunities in the first half.
In the 27th minute, Serginho initiated a swift counter-attack before picking out Kalayci, who curled an accurate effort into the top corner to restore parity. It proved to be Karagumruk’s only shot on target before the interval.
Galatasaray regain control after break
Galatasaray emerged from the restart with greater composure and territorial control, patiently working openings against a deep-lying defence.
Their pressure paid off when Rolland Sallai delivered a measured cross that Gabriel Sara met with a well-timed header to restore the visitors’ lead.
With momentum firmly on their side, Galatasaray tightened their grip on the match and limited Karagumruk’s opportunities to threaten an equaliser.
Osimhen seals win and records milestone
Four minutes after the second goal, Osimhen delivered the decisive moment. The striker controlled a cross from Gündoğan with his chest inside the area before firing an emphatic finish into the roof of the net, sealing the result and bringing up his 50th goal for the club.
The victory keeps Galatasaray top of the Super Lig standings with 46 points, four clear of second-placed Fenerbahçe, who have a game in hand. Karagumruk remain rooted to the bottom with nine points from 19 matches.
Osimhen now has seven league goals this season and 13 in all competitions.
