The Emporia Police Department in Kansas is actively investigating the mysterious disappearance of 28-year-old Rebecca Rauber, a local teacher who went missing on Friday.
Rauber was last spotted on Friday night leaving the Town Royal tavern, located at 405 Commercial Street. According to KVOE News, Emporia Police Sgt. Marcial Hernandez mentioned that she arrived at the tavern around 11 p.m.
She reportedly departed following a disagreement with a friend. Surveillance cameras later recorded Rauber walking on West Fifth Avenue at about 11:37 p.m., as noted by Emporia police.
The Bullet reported, citing family and police sources, that Rauber exited the tavern alone, leaving behind her vehicle and personal items.
“Our officers began searching for Rebecca immediately and reviewed business surveillance footage in the vicinity,” stated EPD Investigations Captain Lisa Hayes, as reported by The Emporia Gazette.
“Rebecca was observed walking alone westbound on West 5th Avenue. Video footage from a residence shows Rebecca walking north on Neosho Street from West 5th Avenue at approximately 11:37 p.m. on Friday, January 22.”
Rauber is described as standing 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing around 160 pounds. She has brown eyes and brown hair with blonde highlights.
She was last seen wearing a dark flannel top, a white undershirt (featuring an unidentified pattern), dark-colored pants and black shoes.
Hernandez is asking people and businesses in the area to look over security footage, particularly between 11:30 p.m. and 11:45 p.m.
According to Emporia Public Schools, Rauber currently serves as a second-grade teacher at Riverside Elementary School.
Authorities are encouraging anyone with information regarding Rauber or her whereabouts to contact the Emporia Police Department at 620-343-4225 or the Kansas Bureau of Investigation at 785-296-4017.
