ABINGDON, Va. (WJHL) – With the onset of a local state of emergency, the Abingdon Public Works Department is collaborating with regional authorities and law enforcement to address the increasingly severe winter storm conditions impacting the area.
On Sunday, Washington County, Va. experienced widespread power outages alongside numerous fallen trees.
To tackle the storm’s challenges, the Town of Abingdon Public Works has organized its crews into 12-hour shifts. Their fleet includes seven snowplow trucks, two medium-sized dump trucks equipped with salt spreaders, and two large dump trucks, all dedicated to improving road safety.
