Quinton Aaron, renowned for his role as NFL offensive lineman Michael Oher in the acclaimed film “The Blind Side,” is currently in a critical condition on life support.
The 41-year-old actor experienced a sudden collapse while ascending stairs in his Atlanta home, his manager revealed to TMZ. The unexpected incident led to his hospitalization.
Aaron has been receiving medical care in an Atlanta hospital for the past three days after being diagnosed with a severe blood infection that necessitated life support, according to a GoFundMe campaign established on his behalf.
The campaign page highlights the gravity of the situation, stating that Aaron is “fighting for his life.”
“This ordeal has been abrupt and terrifying, leaving his family and friends overwhelmed,” expressed the fundraiser’s organizer, Veterans Aid Network.
“As he fights for his life, his family is facing an immense emotional and financial burden — medical expenses, living costs, and the uncertainty of how long this road to recovery may be.”
“Quinton has spent his life inspiring others, reminding us that compassion and humanity still matter in this world. Now, as he fights one of the hardest battles of his life, let’s surround him with that same love,” the page added.
Aaron is currently in stable condition, communicating with loved ones, and receiving appropriate care, his manager told TMZ.
Doctors are still running tests and evaluating Aaron’s condition, and are still working to determine the cause of the fall.
His manager thanks fans for the “outpouring of love, prayers, and well wishes.”
According to the actor’s GoFundMe page, medical expenses are “piling up,” and his family is seeking financial assistance for his “medical needs.”
“As he fights one of the hardest battles of his life, let’s surround him with that same love,” the page noted.
The devastating fall comes just months after the actor had lost 200 pounds while on a weight loss journey.
The hospitalization also comes after a series of medical battles for Aaron, including a March 2025 emergency trip to a California hospital after he developed a fever and began coughing up blood, according to TMZ.
During his March health scare, doctors believed Aaron was suffering from Type A flu and pneumonia after running multiple tests.
He previously battled a severe upper respiratory infection in 2019.
Aaron is best known for his role as NFL star Michael Oher in the 2009 Warner Bros movie blockbuster “The Blind Side,” and starred alongside Sandra Bullock, who won an Oscar for her role as Leigh Tuohy.
The film revolves around how Oher was taken in as a teen and raised like a son by the Tuohy family, who eventually helped him secure a deal to enter the NFL.
A first-round pick in the 2009 NFL Draft, Oher had an eight-year NFL career with the Ravens, Titans and Panthers.
