(NEXSTAR) – If you notice a little extra cash in your bank account, it might be from the distribution of settlement funds in a significant $95 million class action lawsuit involving allegations against Apple’s Siri for unauthorized “snooping.”

This legal action stemmed from a lawsuit initiated by a resident of California. The suit alleged that Siri, Apple’s voice-activated assistant, could be inadvertently activated, leading to unauthorized recordings of conversations that were shared with third parties. Plaintiffs reported seeing targeted advertisements for products like Olive Garden meals and Air Jordan sneakers after discussing them near an Apple device, as reported by Reuters.

Apple, while denying any misconduct, stated to Nexstar, “Siri has been designed with user privacy in mind from the start.” Despite this stance, the tech giant opted to settle the case for $95 million.
