With forecasts predicting a continuous drop in temperatures throughout the week, these havens provide not only warmth but also a sense of community and support during the chilly season.

This valuable resource highlights shelters that are welcoming individuals and families, as well as those extending services such as transportation and pet care, ensuring everyone has access to safety and comfort amid the cold snap.

Beaufort, S.C.

  • Sea Island Presbyterian Church
    • Located at 81 Lady’s Island Dr.
    • Opens at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 26.
    • The cold weather shelter will operate from 5:30 p.m. until 8:00 a.m. through the morning of Thursday, Jan. 29.

Hilton Head Island, S.C.

  • Christ Lutheran Church
    • Located at 829 William Hilton Pkwy.
    • Opens from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 a.m. from Sunday, Jan. 25, through the morning of Thursday, Jan. 29.
    • Dinner, showers and breakfast will be provided.
    • Weapons, alcohol, drugs, smoking and pets will not be allowed.
    • Service animals are allowed.

Savannah, Ga.

  • Tompkins Regional Center 
    • Located at 2333 Ogeechee Rd.
    • Opens at 7 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 26 
    • Closes at 7 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27
    • Pets are allowed. However, there’s a capacity limit of 10 pets. 
    • 45 beds available.
    • On-site security will be provided.
  • Salvation Army 
    • Located at 3100 Montgomery St. 
    • Five beds are available for women.
    • Three beds are available for men.
  • Union Mission
    • Located at 120 Fahm St. 
    • Five beds are available for women.
    • 15 beds are available for men.
  • Come As You Are
    • Located at 1901 Pennsylvania Ave. 
    • Open on Monday and Tuesday.
    • 30 beds available.
  • Pet assistance
    • Available through Renegade Paws.
    • Located at 2357 Ogeechee Rd.

  • Transportation assistance 
    • The Chatham Savannah Authority for the Homeless (CSAH) Outreach Team is available to assist individuals with transportation to shelter locations.
    • From Monday to Tuesday, Jan. 26-27 
    • For services between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m, call 912-547-0652 
    • For services between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m, call 912-547-7877 
    • For services after 9 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 26, call 912-803-2994. 

Statesboro, Ga.

  • Trinity Episcopal Church
    • Short-term shelter located at 4401 Country Club Rd.
    • From 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.
    • Guests should bring bedding and any items they may need for the night.
