Marvel Television is set to unveil a fresh superhero narrative.
The upcoming series, titled “Wonder Man,” unfolds against the backdrop of the glitzy world of Hollywood.
Before the show’s debut, George Pennacchio from On The Red Carpet engaged with the cast to delve into their insights.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II steps into the shoes of Simon Williams, an aspiring actor eager to portray “Wonder Man” in a new superhero film. As the story progresses, audiences will discover he might just have what it takes for the part.
Abdul-Mateen shared, “What I truly appreciate about this series is offering a glimpse to those unfamiliar with the acting world, into the realities of an actor striving to land a role.”
Simon befriends fellow actor Trevor Slattery, played by Sir Ben Kingsley, a character with a little bit of mystery. Kingsley loves the show and what he calls its clever concept.
“These are such beautifully written characters with their vulnerabilities and their tremendous strengths that every day we find a different layer in the character,” Kingsley said. “And every episode touched on that different layer too, so very exciting journey.”
“Wonder Man” is not your typical superhero story. There’s more comedy and drama and less action.
“It definitely is a look at the actor’s life, you know, from the ground up. From the struggling actor and the people who are just, you know, struggling to make that dream happen for years and years and years,” said co-creator and director Destin Daniel Cretton.
“It will culminate in something emotional and unique and unexpected,” said co-creator and writer Andrew Guest.
All eight episodes of “Wonder Man” stream on Disney+ Tuesday.
The Walt Disney Company is the parent company of Marvel Studios and this ABC station.
