The sequence of events began on Friday evening, just before 8 p.m., when police arrested Davis in the 8000 block of South Ingleside Avenue in the Grand Crossing neighborhood. This arrest followed a shooting incident in the 7900 block of South Ingleside Avenue, where a 22-year-old woman sustained serious injuries.

Officers responded to a domestic disturbance call reporting a man armed with a gun and a knife. Upon their arrival, Davis allegedly attempted to flee and fired shots at the officers.

In response, two officers discharged their weapons, striking Davis, police confirmed.

CPD said he lives in the same block, where the incident occurred.

Davis was seriously injured in the shooting, officials previously said.

The Civilian Office of Police Accountability and CPD’s Investigative Response Team are investigating.

The officers involved will be placed on routine administrative duties for a minimum period of 30 days.
