LONDON – Paul Thomas Anderson’s action-packed thriller with a political twist, “One Battle After Another,” is dominating the British Academy Film Awards nominations with an impressive 14 nods, including recognition for five of its actors.

Hot on its heels is Ryan Coogler’s soulful vampire saga, “Sinners,” with 13 nominations. Meanwhile, Chloé Zhao’s dramatic interpretation of a Shakespearean family saga, “Hamnet,” and Josh Safdie’s dynamic sports drama, “Marty Supreme,” each boast 11 nominations.

Competing for the coveted best film title are “One Battle After Another,” “Hamnet,” “Marty Supreme,” “Sinners,” and the Norwegian family drama, “Sentimental Value.”

In the best leading actor category, Robert Aramayo is recognized for his portrayal of a man with Tourette’s syndrome in “I Swear.” Also vying for the award are Timothée Chalamet for “Marty Supreme,” Leonardo DiCaprio for “One Battle After Another,” Ethan Hawke for “Blue Moon,” Michael B. Jordan for “Sinners,” and Jesse Plemons for “Bugonia.”

The race for best leading actress features Jessie Buckley for “Hamnet” as a frontrunner. She faces competition from Rose Byrne in “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You,” Kate Hudson in “Song Sung Blue,” Chase Infiniti in “One Battle After Another,” Renate Reinsve in “Sentimental Value,” and Emma Stone in “Bugonia.”

“One Battle” actors Teyana Taylor, Benicio del Toro and Sean Penn are all nominated for supporting performances.

The Associated Press was recognized in the best documentary category with a nomination for Mstyslav Chernov’s harrowing Ukraine war portrait “2000 Meters to Andriivka,” co-produced by the AP and PBS Frontline.

The winners will be announced at a Feb. 22 ceremony in London hosted by actor Alan Cumming. The U.K. prizes — officially called the BAFTA Film Awards — often provide clues about who will triumph at Hollywood’s Academy Awards, held this year on March 15.
