The Israeli head of state will arrive in Australia on February 8, and he will meet with the victims of the Bondi shooting.
Herzog was invited by Albanese in the aftermath of the terror attack, where 15 people were killed at a Hanukkah event on Bondi Beach on December 14 last year.

“President Herzog plans to travel to various Jewish communities in Australia to show support and provide encouragement following the recent attack,” a statement from Herzog’s office announced overnight.

Though Herzog serves as Israel’s head of state, his position is primarily ceremonial, akin to the role of the Governor-General in Australia.

Last year, Australia’s Governor-General Sam Mostyn extended an invitation to Herzog to visit the country.

“President Herzog expressed his willingness to accept the invitation,” his office confirmed at that time.

Additionally, the President of the Zionist Federation of Australia also formally invited Herzog, expressing the desire for him to visit, which he plans to fulfill.

It is not known if he will address parliament during his visit, which will conclude on February 12, or the precise list of Australian politicians he would meet.
