Patrick Dempsey makes his return to network television, stepping away from his iconic role as Dr. Shephard from Grey’s Anatomy. This time, he takes on a much darker character in the new FOX series Memory of a Killer.

In this thrilling drama, Dempsey plays Angelo, a man juggling the roles of a devoted father, a grieving widower, and a seemingly mundane copier salesman. However, beneath this ordinary facade lies his true identity: a skilled hitman. Angelo’s double life is orchestrated by his best friend and crime boss, Dutch, portrayed by Michael Imperioli, who operates out of New York City.

Angelo harbors another secret—his memory is failing him. He begins to experience symptoms of early-onset Alzheimer’s, a condition his brother also battles. Yet, Angelo is determined to keep this hidden from his loved ones.

The storyline of Memory of a Killer unfolds between the scenic Hudson Valley and the bustling streets of New York City, where Angelo executes his assignments and where Dutch’s restaurant serves as a central hub. But viewers might wonder where this gripping show was actually filmed.

Where is Memory of a Killer filmed?

According to IMDb, filming for Memory of a Killer took place between August and December 2025. While New York City and Cooperstown, New York, are listed as locations, the majority of the series was shot in Toronto, Ontario. There, local settings were cleverly transformed to represent both New York City and the fictional town of Hudson Springs, Angelo’s home.

Production was spotted filming at Brick Street Bakery in Toronto in October. According to local reports, the show also filmed in the Upper Beaches neighborhood of Toronto and around Malvern Collegiate Institute. Filming also took place on Pickering Street, Balsam Avenue and Lyall Avenue in Toronto.

As for Hudson Springs, certain scenes appeared to be filmed in the historic downtown area of Port Perry in Scugog, Ontario, according to a video from a local business.
