WASHINGTON (NEXSTAR) – With the 2026 tax filing season barely underway, a potential government shutdown on the horizon could soon impact IRS operations and funding as early as this Saturday.

If Congress doesn’t approve the proposed funding package by Friday’s midnight deadline, a partial shutdown will initiate, affecting various government services.
