SIDELL, Ill. (WCIA)— Water is being tested in Sidell after several water main breaks caused a boil order on Monday.

The boil order was issued Monday morning. From that time on, the entire village — including its bars, restaurants, and homes — had to boil its water. The village worked to fix the breaks all night long, and the Water Superintendent of Sidell said they tested the water on Tuesday.

Village officials added that the samples were taken throughout the day until the water towers could be re-filled. Testing continued to happen when the leaks were filled, making sure it was safe. According to the Water Superintendent there are no more leaks, and the water is continuously being tested. The boil order is expected to be lifted on Wednesday.

Until the boil order is lifted, residents are asked to boil all water for five minutes before drinking it, making ice cubes, washing food, brushing teeth or in any activity that involves consuming the water.
