A young woman was assaulted during a FaceTime call with Barron Trump, and the assailant, Matvei Rumiantsev, has been convicted of some charges related to the incident. However, he was acquitted of several other serious allegations in a recent trial.

Rumiantsev, 22, appeared before Snaresbrook Crown Court, facing a series of accusations, including two counts of rape, assault by beating, assault occasioning actual bodily harm, intentional strangulation, and perverting the course of justice. After deliberating for seven hours, the jury, comprising seven women and five men, reached a verdict.

But, after seven hours a jury made up of seven women and five men found him not guilty of all but two offences – assault occasioning actual bodily harm and perverting the course of justice.

Police were alerted to the crime, which happened in the early hours of January 18 last year, by Donald Trump’s youngest son – with the prosecution arguing he may have ‘saved her life’.

In a transcript released by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), Barron said: “Oh I’m calling from the US, uh I just got a call from a girl, you know, she’s getting beat up.

“This was happening about eight minutes ago. I just figured out how to, how to call someone. Uh, uh it’s really an emergency.”

At one point, the 999 operator told off Trump for refusing to answer questions, saying: “Can you stop being rude and actually answer my questions.

“If you want to help the person, you’ll answer my questions clearly and precisely, thank you. So how do you know her?”

Barron then said he met the victim on social media and that she was “getting really badly beat up”.

He added: “So sorry for being rude.”

Later, he added more in an email to police, saying: “The individual who picked up the phone was a shirtless man with darkish hair, although I didn’t get a good look, this view lasted maybe one second and I was racing with adrenaline.

“The camera was then flipped to the victim getting hit while crying, stating something in Russian. The guy had hung up. This whole interaction lasted five to seven seconds.”

Barron said he was “racing with adrenaline” and alleged seeing the woman was “getting hit whilst crying”.

Barron continued: “I made two of my friends call the Met Police in the UK, even though they are in the US.

“As per evidence I do not have any, I was told by the victim who I am very close with that this individual was giving her difficulty for a long time.”

Former MMA fighter Rumiantsev admitted during the trial that he was ‘jealous’ of the woman’s relationship with the notable American.

And, in court it was argued by Prosecutor Serena Gates that the 22-year-old called Barron to show ‘dominance’.

But, he claimed in court: “I was drunk. I was not angry, was not jealous. I was emotional and very exhausted from a long evening.

“I was a bit tired of her hysterical behaviour.”

He recalled his victim’s behaviour “deteriorated sharply” after he showed her face to Mr Trump on the FaceTime call, Rumiantsev recalled.

Rumiantsev had hoped it would calm her down, telling the jury: “I was demonstrating to her that she would not behave in the same way in front of other people and what she was doing was unreasonable.

“I thought it might bring her back to her senses.”

Rumiantsev will be sentenced for the two offences at Snaresbrook Crown Court on a date yet to be decided.
