If you’re planning to catch a single scene from the newly released Amazon Prime action comedy The Wrecking Crew, let it be the unforgettable mud wrestling showdown between Jason Momoa and Dave Bautista. While the rest of the film provides plenty of entertainment, it’s clear that this particular scene is the highlight fans have been eagerly anticipating.

Helmed by director Ángel Manuel Soto, known for Charm City Kings and Blue Beetle, and penned by screenwriter Jonathan Tropper, The Wrecking Crew features Momoa and Bautista as half-brothers who have been estranged for years. They find themselves back in their Hawaiian hometown following the mysterious murder of their father. As they try to unravel the mystery, they suspect the involvement of the Japanese Yakuza, who seem intent on attacking them at every turn.

Soto crafts several exhilarating action scenes, including an early sequence where Momoa, clad in just a towel, uses a grater on an assailant’s arm with the same ease as one grating cheese, all while managing to sip his beer.

However, the film truly hits its stride about an hour in, when it finally delivers the much-anticipated showdown: a clash between Momoa and Bautista.

Though not in a traditional ring, the brothers face off outside a police station amidst a torrential downpour—the ideal setting for their dramatic brawl. Jonny, played by Momoa, has just been released from jail after a reckless attempt to avenge his father. His brother James, portrayed by Bautista, is less than pleased. Tensions escalate when James criticizes Jonny’s late mother, sparking Jonny to retaliate with a punch. And thus, the battle begins!

As huge as Momoa may be, he’s no match for the former WWE pro wrestler. Bautista slams him into various cop cars in the parking lot (again, the police station is right there, you guys), before eventually tossing him into nearby mud puddle. Still, Jonny doesn’t give up. He stays in the game by fighting dirty. He bites his brother and kicks him in the balls. Soon, both of these hulking men are rolling around in the mud, getting filthy. Now that’s what we like to see.

Finally, Bautista—or Batista, as he went by in the ring—strips off his jacket and pulls out a version of his signature Batista Bomb move. He slams Momoa down onto the muddy concrete. Ouch. Momoa gets in a few more punches on his hands and knees, but it’s nearly all over. The nail in the coffin comes when Bautista pins his on-screen brother to the floor and delivers punch after punch. He only stops when he realizes just how much he’s injuring Momoa. Ding ding ding, we have a winner!

Of course, the real winners here are us, the audience, who got to enjoy the show. Not only did director Ángel Manuel Soto give us the gift of Bautista back in the ring, he also gave us the gift of these two beautiful men quite literally mud wrestling. Thank you, Mr. Soto. Now that’s what I call cinema.
