DECATUR, Ill. (WCIA) — A Decatur family is rebuilding their lives after losing their home to a devastating cooking fire last December. Today, they have settled into a new residence, ready to create fresh memories.

“Everything was either burnt, water-damaged, or melted beyond recognition,” shared Tanika Smith Carson, reflecting on the loss. “It’s incredibly painful because so many memories were tied to that home. But I’m thankful to God that we are still here,” she added.
