In a distressing incident on Wednesday evening, a Honda sedan was involved in what appeared to be a deliberate attack on the Chabad world headquarters in Brooklyn. This startling event unfolded as the vehicle repeatedly collided with the building’s facade.
Authorities reported that the vehicle mounted the sidewalk and violently struck the Chabad building situated on Eastern Parkway near Kingston Avenue in the Crown Heights neighborhood. The incident was recorded around 8:46 p.m., as detailed by the New York Daily News.
Footage circulating online captured the unsettling moment when the driver relentlessly drove into the entrance and double doors of the headquarters multiple times, sparking immediate concern and outrage within the community.
Subsequently, the driver exited the car and was overheard shouting, “I fucking slipped, you asshole,” a statement that added to the confusion and tension surrounding the event.
In response to the attack, the organization released a statement expressing their concern and the symbolic significance of the building, stating, “We are deeply disturbed by reports of an incident that occurred tonight in Brooklyn. Just minutes ago, a car repeatedly rammed into 770 Eastern Parkway.” They emphasized that this structure is not just a synagogue but also serves as the global headquarters for Chabad and holds immense cultural significance for Judaism worldwide.
A male suspect later emerged from the vehicle and could be heard shouting, “I fucking slipped, you asshole.”
“We are deeply disturbed by reports of an incident that occurred tonight in Brooklyn. Just minutes ago, a car repeatedly rammed into 770 Eastern Parkway,” the organization said in the statement. “This building is not only a synagogue, but also the worldwide @ChabadHeadquarters and a beloved symbol of Judaism around the world. @ADL is in touch with law enforcement and local partners on the ground.
