In the upcoming episode of Sister Wives, airing this Sunday, Robyn Brown is addressing past tensions with Meri Brown head-on. The episode promises to be a dramatic installment as Robyn counters accusations that Meri has legitimate reasons to distrust her, given their complicated history.

During an exclusive preview shared with Us Weekly, host Sukanya Krishnan engages Robyn, 47, in a candid conversation. “Do you feel Meri has any grounds to distrust you after everything that’s transpired?” Krishnan asks, probing into the depths of their relationship.

Robyn responds assertively, “I do not. I absolutely do not,” emphasizing her belief that she has always supported Meri.

Krishnan highlights that Meri, 54, has previously mentioned relying on Robyn during some particularly difficult times in Las Vegas. This period included a notorious incident where Meri was catfished by someone pretending to be a male admirer online—a situation that added strain to her marriage with Kody Brown.

Reflecting on those events, Robyn recalls, “All I knew was she was talking online about flowers, texting, music, and flirting. I thought, ‘She’s going through a tough time. Get yourself over there and help her.’” Robyn admits to intervening in Meri and Kody’s relationship back then, claiming her actions were intended to help them reconcile.

She claims during the reunion, “That’s what I was doing, OK? She’s sitting here saying that she can’t trust me because of this or that. I had her freaking back.”

In 2015, Meri opened up about her catfishing scandal, claiming that Robyn made it worse by allegedly reporting back to their then-shared husband Kody, now 56. At the time, Meri denied the affair extended beyond online conversations.

“During an emotional and vulnerable time earlier this year, I began speaking with someone online who turned out to be not who they said they were,” Meri told Us in a statement in October 2015, explaining her side of the story. “I never met this person and I regret being drawn into this situation, but I hope because of it I can help others who find themselves in similar circumstances.”

The scandal came after a family mixup in 2014, when Kody divorced Meri to legally wed fourth wife Robyn and adopt her three children from a prior marriage.

Kody and Meri remained in a spiritual relationship until January 2023, when they announced their breakup in a joint statement. (Kody’s other exes, Christine Brown and Janelle Brown, announced their splits in November 2021 and December 2022, respectively.)

Robyn, for her part, remembers Meri’s catfishing heartbreak differently, insisting she was always in Meri’s corner.

“I was sitting there watching everything that was happening and I was worried about her,” Robyn says of that dark time period in Us’ sneak peek at the TLC episode. “And I was saying, ‘She kicked you out and you go stay in another room. You have the conversation with her. You don’t come over here. You go work it out with her. She’s being taken advantage of.’”

Robyn explains, “Even if I didn’t know it was a catfishing situation, even just somebody sitting there taking advantage of someone who is struggling, a woman who’s struggling, I was like, ‘You get your butt over there and you talk to her. You work this out.’”

Robyn recalls talking to Meri herself as well, telling her then-friend, “‘What is this conversation you’re having? Why are you talking to this person?’ I was being open with both of them. I was talking to both of them.”

A distraught and upset Robyn then tells Krishnan, “If people want to say, if she wants to say this somehow I did something wrong there, that is fine. I don’t have a problem with that because I know what my intentions were.”

In the Sister Wives: 1-on-1 trailer released earlier this month, Kody seemingly backs Robyn’s accounts of what transpired during that time as well.

“If your wife’s having an affair, that’s my business no matter what,” Kody yells in the clip.
