Alyssa Farah Griffin, a host on The View, addressed the recent release of footage depicting Alex Pretti’s encounter with federal agents just days before he was tragically killed during an anti-ICE demonstration in Minneapolis. She firmly dismissed any notion that this new evidence alters the core facts of the case.

During the broadcast on Thursday, January 29, Griffin expressed, “This footage doesn’t change the fundamental facts. If anything, it illustrates that law enforcement had the capability to subdue Alex Pretti without resorting to shooting him ten times.”

While Griffin made it clear that she does not support Pretti’s behavior shown in the videos, she emphasized that these actions should not influence the assessment of his death’s legality.

“I don’t condone actions like damaging a law enforcement vehicle or spitting on officers,” she stated. However, she argued that these incidents are separate from his subsequent death. “His personality and decisions at that moment are irrelevant to the fact that, 11 days later, he was shot ten times after being disarmed during a different confrontation. That’s not what we should be discussing,” she concluded.

“His personality, his decisions are not germane to the fact that, 11 days later, for a completely different altercation, he was shot 10 times after his weapon was removed from him. That’s not even the discussion,” she continued.

“This is America guys, if we don’t believe there should be some sort of standard for when the government, when federal agents use lethal force against an American, I don’t really know where we are,” Griffin pointed out.

The View host then pointed out that “public sentiment is massively shifting” when it comes to the Trump administration’s ICE crackdown amid the deaths of Pretti and Renee Nicole Good, as illustrated in a Fox News poll she shared that showed 59% of all voters believe ICE is  being “too aggressive” in its deportation efforts.

Griffin said the Trump administration is already taking note of this. She pointed out that there are already reports of plans to pull ICE agents out of Minneapolis.

“The administration realizes this is a huge political loser across the political spectrum for them,” she concluded.

The View airs on weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
