As Tampa gears up for its inaugural outdoor hockey event, the scene on Dale Mabry is bustling with activity. Crews are diligently painting lines, logos, and other essential ice markings in preparation for this historic game.
The upcoming match will mark a special milestone for several members of the Tampa Bay Lightning, who will experience their first-ever outdoor game. Among them is defenseman Darren Raddysh, who expressed his excitement about the unique opportunity. “I’ve always envied those who have played outdoors,” Raddysh shared. “Getting to do it in Florida, where ice isn’t exactly a natural occurrence, will be amazing. I’m eager to see how it all turns out.”
Ahead of the game, Tampa is bracing for a busy weekend. Alongside the NHL Stadium Series, the city will host the annual Gasparilla festivities, promising significant traffic and vibrant energy throughout the area.
