A mother who escaped from Utah to Croatia with her four children has been apprehended.

Elleshia Anne Seymour was arrested in Dubrovnik, Croatia, as officials work with federal agencies to discuss her extradition, according to a spokesperson from the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office, who spoke with Oxygen.

Elleshia’s legal issues began in November 2025 when she left the United States with her children without informing or obtaining permission from her ex-husbands, Kendall Seymour and Kurt Brady. This information was detailed in court documents and criminal filings provided to Oxygen by the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office. She is bound by court-ordered custody agreements with both men regarding their four children.

As a result, Elleshia has been charged with four counts of custodial interference for taking the children out of state, which are considered third-degree felonies.

On December 2, officers from the West Jordan Police Department in Utah conducted a welfare check at Elleshia’s residence. The criminal information document indicates that when officers arrived, they found her door unlocked, the house empty, and were unable to reach her by phone.

Upon speaking to Elleshia’s ex-boyfriend, police learned she “had recently discussed obtaining passports and leaving the country,” per the criminal information document, “expressing concerns about biblical events and the ‘end of times.”

The complaint also stated that Elleshia had left a Dec. 2 voicemail for Kurt explaining that she was in France with the children, “looking for a permanent residence and needed to get the children out because the ‘end of times’ were coming.

The file states that authorities later found a notebook with plans to “shred documents, discard phones, and take passports” in Elleshia’s home.

“By December 10th, the time for Seymour to return the children to Kendall Seymour and Kurt Brady for their court-ordered parent time had long since elapsed,” read the criminal information document. While authorities confirmed with Kendall and Kurt that they never consented to Elleshia leaving the country with their children.

Police later found Elleshia’s car abandoned at the Salt Lake City International Airport, per the document, adding that airport footage shows Elleshia and her kids entering the facility on Nov. 29 and boarding a one-way flight to Croatia with a connection in Amsterdam. An airport spokesperson did not immediately respond to a request for comment from Oxygen

In a Dec. 26 interview with Salt Lake City station KSL-TV, Elleshia’s ex-husband Kendall claimed he was unaware that she harbored any beliefs about the “end of times.”

“It didn’t come up in our marriage,” said Kendall (who was identified as “Kenny” in the article), adding that he had spent the previous week in Croatia to attempt to retrieve his children. “It didn’t come up during our divorce.”

Kendall has launched a GoFundMe page to raise money for his overseas trip.

Oxygen could not reach Kurt for comment.

The state is recommending that Elleshia be held without bail, as she is determined a flight risk, in part because she “appears to have adopted extreme beliefs regarding the ‘end of times,’ such that she believed it necessary to uproot her children from their lives and flee the country.” Authorities say that Elleshia’s “extreme, erratic behavior will escalate and put her children at risk if she is released on bail.”

A spokesperson from the Salt Lake County District Attorney’s Office declined to comment when asked by Oxygen for Elleshia’s current whereabouts, whether she has retained an attorney and any subsequent court proceedings.
