SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Calvary Day boys basketball team is making waves with a strong 15-6 record, led by first-year head coach Bob Martin.

Martin took the helm in April, stepping in for Scepter Brownlee, who moved on to a coaching role at Greater Atlanta Christian.

Under Martin’s guidance, the Cavaliers kicked off the season with an impressive 14-4 start. However, they hit a rough patch, suffering back-to-back losses. The first defeat was against Walker, ranked fourth in Class 3A-A private, followed by a loss to Islands.

Despite the setbacks, Calvary Day quickly bounced back with a commanding 56-37 victory over Beach. This win was particularly crucial as both teams were battling for second place in the Region 3-AAA standings.

Coach Martin expressed confidence in his squad’s resilience, noting their ability to overcome challenges.

“Despite a setback they are still positive,” said Martin. “They actually come out more positive, driven and in tune with what we want to accomplish the next day.”

The Cavs’ next game will be on the road against Long County at 8:00 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 30.
