The royal couple is set to embark on a visit to Australia from March 14 to 19, engaging in a series of business and cultural activities.
This marks their fourth official journey to Australia, and notably, their first since the King assumed the Danish throne.
In an announcement made this evening, the palace emphasized, “The state visit aims to enhance the robust relationship between Australia and Denmark across cultural, economic, and foreign policy domains.”
“Fostering a stronger alliance with Australia is crucial, especially amid geopolitical shifts that impact economic and security policies, linking developments in Europe with those in the Indo-Pacific region,” the statement continued.
The visit will build upon the strategic partnership established between the two nations in 2023, aiming to boost collaboration in several sectors, such as green transition and economic security.
Prime Minister Anthony Albanese said he felt honoured to welcome the royals to Australia.
“It is wonderful that the visit includes many parts of our great country, from the Northern Territory to Victoria, the Australian Capital Territory, and of course Tasmania,” he said.
“Denmark and Australia are great friends, and together we are working to build a more sustainable, secure and peaceful future.
“This visit is an opportunity to deepen our cooperation across a number of shared interests such as sustainability, renewable energy and innovation.
“Their Majesties The King and Queen of Denmark have a very special connection with Australia, and I know Australians will welcome them.”
