The View host Ana Navarro says Alex Pretti was 'perfect guy'

Ana Navarro, co-host of “The View,” recently expressed her admiration for Alex Pretti, a nurse from Minneapolis who was tragically shot and killed by Border Patrol officers. Navarro described Pretti as an exemplary individual, calling him the “perfect guy” and someone who any parent would be proud to see their daughter date.

Speaking on CNN, Navarro, known for her strong opposition to former President Donald Trump, lauded Pretti’s character just days after the incident during an anti-ICE protest. Pretti was fatally shot 10 times in a shocking event that occurred in broad daylight.

“They chose to… they killed the wrong guy,” Navarro stated during the panel discussion. She emphasized Pretti’s admirable qualities, noting, “This is the perfect guy. Alex Pretti is the kind of person you’d want your daughter to date, the kind of person you’d want your son to aspire to be.”

Navarro praised Pretti as a “decent human being” who dedicated his life to serving others, particularly sick veterans. She concluded by saying, “There is nothing that has been said about that man that isn’t wonderful.”

‘A decent human being who was serving humanity. Serving sick veterans. There is nothing that has been said about that man that isn’t wonderful,’ she added.

Pretti, 37, has been remembered as a caring nurse who looked after US veterans and someone who ‘loved his country, but hated what people were doing with it,’ his mother previously told the Associated Press.

‘They can’t malign him,’ Navarro continued. ‘They can’t malign him because we have the videos, so they can’t say he’s a would-be-assassin, and people believe them.’

Footage showed a federal officer removing a gun that Pretti lawfully owned from his holster before he was shot dead.

‘They can’t say, as they said, that he was there to commit a massacre,’ she added.

Trump officials initially attempted to portray Pretti as a ‘domestic terrorist’ because he had a legally-owned firearm at the time he was shot, however a new government report has undermined allegations he ‘brandished’ the weapon.

Navarro then discussed what she believes many Americans are realizing following Pretti’s death.

‘People realize they are being lied to, and they will not be lied to a second time, the way they were lied to about Renee Good,’ the TV personality added.

Pretti’s tragic death came just weeks after Good, another US citizen, was shot during an anti-ICE protest.

Good was driving during a demonstration, also in Minneapolis, when ICE agent Jonathan Ross opened fire on her, causing her to crash her car and die.

Noem also called Good a ‘domestic terrorist’, while the president labeled her a ‘professional agitator.’

‘People have had it. The country has had it, and they’re feeling the heat,’ Navarro stated.

Her comments about Pretti come just after new footage showed him spitting at a federal SUV and smashing its tail light just 11 days before he was killed.

Lawyers for Pretti’s family confirmed to The Star Tribune that the agitator in the footage on January 11 is, in fact, him.

Pretti’s attendance was confirmed with the help of BBC facial recognition software and published in a joint effort between the British public broadcaster and The News Movement.

Reporter Dan Ming was on the scene to cover the ongoing protests in Minneapolis and can be seen at the beginning of the clip. He confirmed his attendance in an email sent to the Daily Mail.

‘A week before Alex was gunned down in the street – despite posing no threat to anyone – he was violently assaulted by a group of ICE agents,’ said attorney Steve Schleicher on behalf of the family.

‘Nothing that happened a full week before could possibly have justified Alex’s killing at the hands of ICE on Jan 24,’ added Schleicher, an ex-federal prosecutor who helped secure a conviction for Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin in the George Floyd case.

The Department of Homeland Security said that they are investigating the footage.

In the new video, Pretti was seen wearing an identical brown outfit to the one the nurse wore on the day of his death.

The clip began with him angrily spitting at the window of the Ford Expedition SUV filled with federal officers conducting raids to arrest illegal migrants, with Pretti heard screaming ‘F*****g trash’ at officers.

As the Ford began to pull away, the furious agitator angrily kicked its tail light, shattering it.

An officer then got out of the car and fought with Pretti, pinning him to the ground as bystanders jeered and screamed.

The protester’s hat then came off and displayed the same male pattern baldness seen atop Pretti’s head during his final moments on Saturday.

Surrounding officers then fired tear gas and pepper balls into the crowd while agents released Pretti from their grip and set him free.

Pretti, who appeared to have a gun in his waistband as he did the day of the shooting, then picked up his belongings that came off in the scuffle and walked away.

The officers he had been fighting with appeared to be ICE or Department of Homeland Security (DHS) agents.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that Pretti had an altercation with federal officers that saw him break a rib before his killing.

It could not be immediately confirmed whether the new clip depicted the moment of the bone breakage and whether it was filmed before or afterwards.

Pretti did not appear to be arrested for causing damage to federal property.

The two Border Patrol agents who shot and killed Pretti have since been placed on administrative leave.
