In a deeply concerning case emerging from Wisconsin, a mother is accused of neglect leading to her 12-year-old son’s tragic demise. Prosecutors argue that Tina Beauprey, 51, failed to provide her son with the necessary care and nourishment, contrary to her claims that his rapid weight loss was due to a terminal illness.
Currently, Beauprey is detained at the Fond du Lac County Jail with a hefty $500,000 bond. Her arrest follows allegations of child neglect resulting in death, a charge that has stirred the local community. The investigation into her conduct began in December 2025, spurred by the heartbreaking death of her son shortly after he was rushed to the emergency room.
Details from the case, as reported by local news outlet WLUK, paint a grim picture. Although a formal criminal complaint is yet to be filed, a probable cause affidavit reveals the boy’s shocking condition at the time of his passing—he weighed a mere 56 pounds. The autopsy report was equally damning, identifying starvation as the cause of death and classifying it as a homicide.
Court documents, reviewed during a session presided over by Judge Laura Lavey, outline a disturbing weight decline. The boy’s weight dropped from 80 pounds in November 2024 to just 56 pounds by the end of the following year. Alarmingly, 15% of this weight was lost in the final five weeks of his life.
Assistant District Attorney Kristin Menzl underscored the neglectful environment the child endured, emphasizing the absence of basic care, including food. According to Menzl, the boy’s health took a significant downturn in the days before his death on December 5, 2025. Yet, despite clear signs of his deteriorating condition, Beauprey allegedly failed to seek any medical assistance for her son.
Beauprey’s defense attorney Michael Queensland said the family expected the boy to lose a large amount of weight because he had been diagnosed with Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Queensland told the court, “The family had been informed that the child was terminally ill. He was going to lose weight. And soon, was going to need a feeding tube.”
Formal charges have not yet been filed against Beauprey. Lavey ordered bail to be set at $500,000, and Beauprey remains in custody at Fond du Lac County Jail. Her next court hearing is scheduled for Feb. 2.
