Following comments made by her father, John Mellencamp, during his appearance on Joe Rogan‘s podcast, where he described her as “really sick” and “suffering” in her fight against brain cancer, the 44-year-old former Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star sought to clarify her health status.
“I believe when he mentioned ‘suffering,’ he was referring more to my mental state rather than my physical condition,” Teddi explained on the January 27 episode of Two Ts in a Pod. “There is still no evidence of cancer.”
Nevertheless, Teddi acknowledged that she is “still classified as stage four” and continues to undergo “immunotherapy.”
That said, Teddi confirmed that she is “still considered stage four” and “still in immunotherapy.”
“So essentially, nothing’s changed … I still, I don’t feel great. I would hope that I would be feeling better by now, but I really don’t,” she admitted.
In addition to her treatment plan taking a toll on her body, Teddi said she also “didn’t properly process all of the things that happened when [she] had surgery.”
“From my divorce [from Edwin Arroyave] to all of a sudden being in emergency surgery to, you know, not being able to see my kids when I was recovering, I think all of those things are starting to finally hit me now,” she explained. “I started doing therapy, and so it’s taken its toll on me.”
“I’ve learned that there’s certain things, like, that it’s hard for me to touch and move, and I can see that I’m slower than I was before, and that’s really frustrating to me. Like I want to be back to the way I used to be,” she continued. “I think [the surgery] is the biggest part of it, and then I think the immunotherapy part is why I feel so exhausted.”
Looking back, Teddi said that while she was thrilled to get the news that there were no more tumors detected, she still has a long way to go in terms of her recovery, both mentally and physically.
“I was really fighting for my life. I felt different then, and now that the storm has calmed a little bit, now I’m starting to develop fear where I didn’t have fear before. Like I have fear to do a lot of things,” she shared. “[My biggest fear is] that cancer is going to come back.”
“[And] I don’t feel super self-sufficient,” she noted. “[But] every day is a new day.”
Teddi Mellencamp was featured in a full-time role on The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills from season eight through season 10.
