In response to the looming cold snap this weekend, Savannah’s Union Mission is ramping up its efforts to provide shelter for those in need. With temperatures expected to plummet, the organization is determined to accommodate as many individuals as possible.
Jillian Kohls from News 3 engaged in a conversation with Mike Traynor, the president and CEO of Union Mission, to discuss their proactive measures. “Normally, our day center operates until 2 p.m. on Saturdays,” Traynor explained. “However, we are extending our hours to remain open later into the afternoon, allowing people ample time to reach the warming center. Additionally, we are increasing our capacity with 15 extra beds at Grace House and more at Parker’s House.”
Union Mission is making a heartfelt appeal to those without shelter, urging them to take advantage of these expanded services. As the community braces for the cold, the organization is committed to ensuring that everyone has a safe place to stay during this chilly spell.
