Star Athlete Jason Jakstys Sidelined for Season Due to Shoulder Blood Clot: Impact on Team’s Future

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. — In a significant setback for the Illinois basketball team, head coach Brad Underwood has confirmed that redshirt freshman center Jason Jakstys will miss the remainder of the season due to a blood clot in his shoulder.

While discussing team updates, Underwood also provided insights into Kylan Boswell’s ongoing recovery, highlighting the challenges faced by the team.

Jakstys, a 6’10” Yorkville, Ill. native, played in nine games this season, averaging 1.3 points and 1.9 rebounds per game.

He redshirted during the 2024-25 season.
