Melania Trump has recently faced ridicule due to the unusual promotional tactic accompanying the release of her controversial biopic. The former First Lady, now 55, saw her film, “Melania,” premiere in theaters nationwide last Friday, and it has sparked conversation not just for its content but also for the unique merchandise tied to it.

In a surprising marketing move, audiences now have the chance to purchase a specially designed popcorn bucket to mark the film’s debut. Priced at $12.99, these buckets are available at select theaters showcasing the documentary.

The movie chain Regal confirmed the availability of this novelty item, sharing details with Gizmodo, which quickly caught the attention of social media users who found the idea rather unexpected.

A spokesperson for Regal explained, “Since the release of ‘Barbie’ on July 21, 2023, Regal has routinely offered collectible movie-themed containers. These are available across various film genres, including numerous non-fiction films such as Andrea Bocelli’s ’30: The Celebration’ from Fathom Entertainment, which often blur the lines within the documentary category.”

‘Since the release of Barbie on July 21, 2023, Regal has frequently offered collectible movie-themed containers across a wide range of film genres including many non-fiction releases like Andrea Bocelli 30: The Celebration from Fathom Entertainment, which blur the lines of the documentary category,’ a spokesperson said.

Popcorn Bucket Slammed Online

‘Several films about musicians have covered both band history and their music, so it would be difficult to claim Melania is the first documentary associated with a collectible container.’

The bucket has already been slated online and many predict that, like cinema tickets, sales will be slow.

‘They may sell it. Will anyone buy it?’ one questioned.

‘Yes, they’ll probably sell about one bucket,’ another wrote. ‘Plus or minus one.’

‘Somehow I doubt there will be sales,’ a third added.

A fourth wrote: ‘This cannot be real…’

Another joked: ‘It also doubles as a chamber pot! You won’t miss a single moment of the movie.’

Melania Biopic Tracks First Lady in 20 Days Before Inauguration

Melania, which was secured by Amazon for $40 million, follows the First Lady in the 20 days leading up to husband President Donald Trump’s inauguration in January 2025.

In an interview with Fox News, Melania said that she hopes audiences will better understand her upon watching the film.

‘I think in every scene they will see how I work, who I am, how I communicate with people and they will know me a little bit more,’ she said.

‘I know they know I’m a very private person and a very selective person, what I do, what I don’t do, when I talk, when I don’t talk and that’s my choice.’

She also gushed about her son Barron and billed husband Donald as a ‘unifier.’

Melania Praises Barron

‘I’m very proud of him, and he’s an incredible young man,’ she said of 19-year-old Barron.

‘He understands now. He’s involved. He knows what’s going on in the world. He talks with his dad. He talks with me.’

Despite buzz, Melania is expected to be a box office flop.

According to industry tracking from the National Research Group, the documentary is tipped to reap an estimated $5 million during its opening weekend.

The best dressed guests at Melania’s movie premiere

It’s just one day before Melania Trump’s documentary, Melania, is set to premiere in theaters across the country, and a group of high-profile guests descended upon the red carpet Thursday night for a special screening at the Kennedy Center.

The documentary follows the First Lady in the 20 days leading up to husband President Donald Trump’s inauguration in January 2025.

Amazon secured the film for $40 million – the largest documentary deal in history – after beating rivals Disney, Netflix and Paramount in a ferocious bidding war.

The exclusive premiere on Thursday included a guest list of prominent names and members of the Trump administration, like Pete Hegseth and RFK Jr.

The trailer, released last month, shows Melania, now 55, in her element, ascending the stairs to her private jet in sky-high stilettos, marshaling business meetings in Mar-a-Lago and Manhattan, and stunning in her white-and-black inaugural ball gown.

Behind-the-scenes footage captures tender family moments with son Barron Trump and her father, while also shining a light on the rigorous security standards that surround the First Family.

With so many different high-profile figures attending tonight’s Melania premiere, there are sure to be a myriad of stunning and unique outfits. The Daily Mail has rounded up the best looks from Melania’s premiere night.

Melania movie review: Now I know why you wouldn’t want to cross her

The White House screening of MELANIA last weekend was a who’s who of Hollywood, politics and tech.

A milieu of queens, princesses and CEOs. Grateful to be included, I felt like the kid in Almost Famous, inexplicably sitting at the cool kids’ table.

Two years ago I was making TikToks in my East Village apartment. Now I’m in the Red Room, eating a ‘MELANIA’ biscuit, doing my best not to leave any crumbs.

MELANIA is not a single camera documentary with a piecemeal budget. Acquired by Amazon MGM studios for a reported $40 million, this film, directed by Brett Ratner (of the Jackie Chan Rush Hour movies), from beginning to end is grand, ornate and blazing with splendor.

We open with a panning drone shot over the rippling turquoise that surrounds President Trump’s ‘winter White House’ in Florida, Mar-a-Lago.

Soaring over waves, we land at the palatial resort on New Year’s Day, 2025, with Melania stepping into her motorcade and heading for Palm Beach airport.

It feels like a scene out of Charlie’s Angels.

She’s beautiful and poised behind those trademark dark shades. She’s en route to New York and the clock is ticking to her husband’s historic second Inauguration in just 20 days.

This is the rather breathless and breath-taking start of a mad dash to get everything ready for her family’s return to 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

From Trump Tower in Manhattan, she goes from meeting to meeting, hiring staff, picking out furniture for the White House, in which, we learn, her father Viktor Knavs has a room.

Mrs Trump and famed interior designer Tham Kannalikham hammer out the details.

An enigmatic figure, Mrs Trump pulls back the curtain and brings us along as she moves through her days.

Here is a First Lady engaged in every detail, right down to the coupes the First Family will drink out of – these are decisions that must be made.
