Just two weeks before her unexpected passing at 71, Catherine O’Hara was reportedly in high spirits during one of her final public appearances. The beloved “Schitt’s Creek” actress was seen at an event hosted by Supermodels Unlimited magazine, which took place at Lisa Vanderpump’s SUR restaurant in West Hollywood, California, on January 13.

An insider shared with the Daily Mail that O’Hara made a quick appearance but seemed to be in excellent health for her age. “She appeared to be doing well for a 71-year-old,” the source noted in a report published on Saturday.

Earlier, in September, O’Hara had attended another public event, making an appearance at Apple TV+’s Primetime Emmy Party. The event was held at Ysabel, a restaurant in Los Angeles, on September 14.

During the Emmy Party, O’Hara was all smiles as she graced the red carpet alongside her husband of 33 years, Bo Welch. Her cheerful demeanor was evident as she participated in the celebration.

At the time, the actress was all smiles as she walked the event’s red carpet with her husband of 33 years, Bo Welch, at her side.

She wore a floor-length black gown for the occasion.

The actress, who was nominated for a 2025 Emmy for her performance as Patty Leigh on Apple TV+’s “The Studio,” was notably absent from this year’s Golden Globes ceremony earlier this month despite her being nominated for an award.

O’Hara died on Jan. 30 “following a brief illness,” according to a statement from Creative Artists Agency.

Hours before her passing, paramedics responded to a call from O’Hara’s Brentwood home at 4:48 a.m. before rushing the actress to a Los Angeles hospital in “serious condition.”

According to a 911 dispatch audio obtained by Page Six, the actress was experiencing “breathing difficulty” when first responders were called.

Though, the specifics surrounding the illness have not yet been shared and several insiders with ties to O’Hara told the outlet that they were not aware of her mystery affliction.

Her neighbor, retired physician Peter Herman, told Daily Mail on Saturday that he was a “little bit suspicious” after O’Hara’s Golden Globes absence. However, he added that he hadn’t seen O’Hara out in Brentwood in “years.”

“Bo and Catherine were always very pleasant. They were just the kindest, most agreeable neighbors,” he said.

O’Hara’s official cause of death remains unclear at this time.
