Brittany Cartwright candidly discussed her separation from Jax Taylor, touching on their financial situation and co-parenting dynamics during a podcast appearance on Tuesday.
While addressing her relationship status and responding to speculation about her earnings from The Valley, Brittany, now 37, was asked whether Jax, 46, had settled their mortgage debt and what she found most challenging about their split.
“It just keeps getting postponed,” Brittany noted during the January 27 episode of Boyfriend Material with Harry Jowsey.
Explaining the delay in their divorce proceedings, she mentioned several factors, including incomplete paperwork from Jax, contributing to the holdup.
“He didn’t turn in things on time, or they needed something from me, or he was out of town for something, and we had to move the date, so it’s always just been something happening. I’ve got everything in now, so yeah. I am good to go,” she shared. “I have all that stuff in, but if the other person doesn’t, then it just keeps getting delayed and delayed.”
According to Brittany, who hopes to be “divorced within a month,” Jax never paid her back for the money added to their mortgage, which was the result of his tax debt.
“It’s his taxes on top of the mortgage, so like my mortgage is fine, but the extra stuff that he took out … I am now having to pay monthly,” Brittany revealed.
“Hopefully, we’ll figure that out with a divorce,” she added.
Moving on to their co-parenting relationship, Brittany, who described her marriage to Jax as “toxic,” admitted there have been ups and downs.
“It’s a lot, it’s up and down. It depends on the day, it depends on the mood … [But] Cruz comes first no matter what and his dad feels the same way, so things are better, but there are definitely a lot of hard moments,” she explained.
Brittany then revealed that she was single — and had been “for over two years.”
“I think I had to work on myself a lot after [the split] and I’m just kind of like, I don’t have to be in a relationship. I don’t need a man for anything really. I’ve got my own house, my own money. I’ve got, you know, everything. I can do everything on my own,” she reasoned. “I do want a partner eventually, just to have fun with and enjoy life with, but it’s not something I’m like, ‘I have to have a boyfriend.’”
“I just want to have fun right now,” she added.
Also during the interview, after it was alleged that her Valley salary was between $5,000 and $25,000 per episode, Brittany confirmed that was false and revealed the amount was “higher.”
“[But] I’m not gonna say exactly how much,” she noted.
The Valley season three is expected to premiere on Bravo sometime early this year.
