Upon arrival, officers discovered a Northern Arizona University student who was not breathing. Despite efforts from bystanders, officers, and paramedics to revive him through CPR, the student was declared deceased at the scene.
Investigations revealed that the student had participated in a Delta Tau Delta fraternity rush event at the South Pine Grove Road location on the prior evening. Witnesses, including other pledge candidates, confirmed that alcohol consumption had occurred at the event.
Subsequently, three 20-year-old NAU students, who hold executive roles in Delta Tau Delta, were apprehended and charged with hazing. Those arrested include New Member Educator Carter Eslick, Vice President Ryan Creech, and Treasurer Riley Cass, and they have been detained at the Coconino County Detention Facility.
The Coconino County Medical Examiner’s Office will determine the student’s cause and manner of death. His identity was not immediately released.
The Flagstaff Police Department asked anyone with information to call them at 928-774-1414 or Silent Witness at 928-774-6111.
