Staff report

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – A 35-year-old Gainesville resident, Tina Marie Rodstrom, found herself in handcuffs last night, facing charges of organized retail theft. This comes after she allegedly committed a series of shoplifting incidents at the same store over a brief nine-day period.

The sequence of events began to unravel on January 31, when an alert officer from the Gainesville Police Department was dispatched to a CVS located at 1621 SW 13th Street. An employee at the store provided critical surveillance footage that reportedly captured Rodstrom visiting the store multiple times. The footage allegedly shows her heading straight for the drink coolers, helping herself to various beverages, and exiting without paying a dime.

Upon further investigation, it was revealed that Rodstrom had purportedly taken a total of 27 items, valued at $86.93, over five separate occasions. The dates of these alleged thefts were January 23, 26, 28, 29, and 31, painting a clear pattern of repeated offenses.

In a break for the investigation, the store employee was able to furnish the police with Rodstrom’s name, contact details, and employment information. The officer confirmed her identity by matching her driver’s license photo with the individual seen in the surveillance footage. Rodstrom was subsequently arrested at a business located nearby.

Post Miranda, Rodstrom reportedly admitted to the thefts.

Rodstrom has been charged with petit theft with two or more prior theft convictions and organized retail theft (five times in 30 days or more than 10 items), both felonies. She has five felony convictions (non-violent) and seven misdemeanor convictions (non-violent); she has served one state prison sentence and was released in 2021. Judge Gloria Walker set bail at $1,000.

Articles about arrests are based on reports from law enforcement agencies. The charges listed are taken from the arrest report and/or court records and are only accusations. All suspects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
