CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Over a bustling weekend, the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office apprehended nine individuals on charges of driving under the influence. Among those arrested, two also faced allegations related to drugs and firearms.
In a news release, Sheriff Dustin Heuerman detailed the sequence of arrests, which began on Friday evening and continued through Sunday night. Below are the specifics of each incident:
- Demetrice Miller, 42 of Urbana
- Friday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m.
- Traffic stop at Beardsley and Prospect Avenues in Champaign
- A K-9 raised an alert, leading to the discovery of marijuana, cocaine and open alcohol
- “After a brief altercation with the driver who attempted to leave the scene, he was taken into custody.”
- Arrested for
- Aggravated DUI
- Driving with a revoked license
- Possession of adult use cannabis in a motor vehicle
- Illegal transportation of alcohol
- Delivery/possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver
