Champaign County Sheriff’s Office Conducts Weekend Operation: Nine Arrested for DUI and Additional Violations

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Over a bustling weekend, the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office apprehended nine individuals on charges of driving under the influence. Among those arrested, two also faced allegations related to drugs and firearms.

In a news release, Sheriff Dustin Heuerman detailed the sequence of arrests, which began on Friday evening and continued through Sunday night. Below are the specifics of each incident:

  • Demetrice Miller, 42 of Urbana
    • Friday, Jan. 30 at 7 p.m.
    • Traffic stop at Beardsley and Prospect Avenues in Champaign
    • A K-9 raised an alert, leading to the discovery of marijuana, cocaine and open alcohol
    • “After a brief altercation with the driver who attempted to leave the scene, he was taken into custody.”
    • Arrested for
      • Aggravated DUI
      • Driving with a revoked license
      • Possession of adult use cannabis in a motor vehicle
      • Illegal transportation of alcohol
      • Delivery/possession of a controlled substance with intent to deliver
