SAVANNAH, Ga. — As we move into the next couple of afternoons, expect warmer temperatures, although a mid-week weather system might bring some showers our way.

The week kicked off with chilly conditions Monday morning, as temperatures dipped into the teens and 20s. However, a generous dose of sunshine helped the afternoon temperatures climb to the upper 40s and lower 50s.

On Tuesday, brace yourself for another cold start with temperatures dropping below freezing, hitting the upper 20s to lower 30s. Despite partly cloudy skies, the afternoon will see a pleasant rise, with highs reaching the upper 50s to lower 60s.

Wednesday morning promises to be more seasonable for early February, with temperatures settling in the lower 40s. By afternoon, expect a similar warm-up to the upper 50s and lower 60s.

An emerging low-pressure system developing over North Texas and Oklahoma is set to pass through the Southeast on Wednesday. This could bring a few isolated showers early in the day.

More numerous showers are expected for the afternoon and early evening as a cold front begins to move through.

Thursday will be noticeably colder again with morning lows in the upper 30s to lower 40s. Afternoon highs are forecast to warm into just the upper 40s to lower 50s with a mix of clouds and sunshine.

Another warming trend will develop for Friday and into the weekend as high pressure sets up again over the Southeastern U.S.

Friday will start out with morning low temperatures in the upper 20s to lower 30s. A mainly sunny sky will help warm the afternoon into the upper 50s to lower 60s.

Saturday and Sunday will feature morning lows in the mid 30s with afternoon highs in the low to mid 60s. No rain is expected for the weekend.

Shower chances will return late on Monday with afternoon highs in the lower to middle 60s, about right where temperatures should be for early February.
