Savannah Guthrie, co-host of the “Today” show, has reached out to the public for prayers as efforts to locate her missing mother continue.

Nancy Guthrie, age 84, was last seen on Sunday morning and was reported missing when she failed to attend church services near Tucson, Arizona. On Monday evening, Savannah took to Instagram to ask her followers to “please pray” for her mother’s safe return.

“Today” show host Savannah Guthrie is calling for prayers as the search continues for her missing mother.

In her heartfelt message, she expressed gratitude, saying, “Thank you for joining us in prayer for our cherished mom, our dear Nancy, a woman of profound faith and devotion.” She urged her audience to unite in belief and prayer, hoping these collective efforts will uplift her mother during this critical time. “We need you,” she emphasized.

On Monday, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos addressed the media, revealing that the investigation now points to a potential crime scene. In a conversation with NBC “Nightly News,” Nanos shared his suspicions that Nancy Guthrie may have been “taken from her home against her will.”

“It’s rare to encounter a situation where an 84-year-old woman vanishes from her bed in the dead of night,” Nanos remarked to NBC correspondent Tom Llamas.

During a press conference on Monday, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos said his office now believes “we do in fact have a crime scene.” Nanos told NBC “Nightly News” later Monday evening that he believes Nancy Guthrie was “taken out of the home against her will.”

“I can’t think of the last time where in the middle of the night in someone’s bed, an 84-year-old woman disappeared on us,” the sheriff told NBC’s Tom Llamas.

Additionally, law enforcement noted to the outlet that they believe the woman may have been harmed when she was removed from the home.

He welcomed the community’s support in the search effort, including looking through security camera footage and notifying the police of any information possibly relevant to the case.

Nanos urged that the situation could be “fatal” if Guthrie’s mother does not receive her necessary medication. Nancy Guthrie was last seen by her family on Saturday around 9:30 p.m.

The sheriff added that she had full cognitive function but was unable to walk more than 50 yards by herself.

“She is very limited in her mobility, we know she didn’t just walk out of there, that we know,” he continued. “There were other things at the scene that indicate that she did not leave on her own.”

Officials described the missing mother as 5’5 and around 150 pounds. She is the sole living parent of the NBC host, after her father died when she was 16 years old.

Anyone with information related to Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance is encouraged to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at (520) 351-4900.
