William Stevenson, who is said to be the former husband of ex-first lady Jill Biden, has been apprehended and faces charges of murder in connection with the death of his current spouse, according to authorities on Tuesday.
The 77-year-old Stevenson was arrested on Monday and is now charged with first-degree murder following the death of Linda Stevenson, as reported by the New Castle County Police in Delaware.

Stevenson, once married to Jill Biden, is now in the spotlight for the alleged killing of his present wife. The case has drawn significant attention due to his past connection with the former first lady.
The incident unfolded on December 28 when police responded to a call about a domestic disturbance at Stevenson’s residence. Upon arrival, officers discovered Linda Stevenson unresponsive, as detailed by authorities at the scene.
Sadly, Linda was pronounced dead shortly after, and her remains were subsequently handed over to the Delaware Division of Forensic Science for an autopsy to determine the cause of death.
Authorities did not list a cause of death on Tuesday.Â

Stevenson was arrested following an “extensive weeks-long investigation,” police said.Â
A grand jury indicted Stevenson on Monday. He was taken to the Howard Young Correctional Institution after failing to post $500,000.00 cash bail.
Fox News Digital reached out to the office of Joe and Jill Biden, but they did not immediately respond.
The former first lady married Stevenson in 1970 when she was 18 and attending the University of Delaware, and he was 23, according to reports.Â
