On Monday, we reported on the disappearance of 84-year-old Nancy Guthrie, who was last seen late Saturday evening in the Catalina Foothills area of Arizona. She had been dropped off at her home by a family member between 9:30 and 9:45 p.m.

Nancy Guthrie is notably the mother of Savannah Guthrie, co-host of NBC’s “Today Show.”

Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos has consistently suggested that this incident may be an abduction. He believes it is unlikely that Ms. Guthrie simply left on her own or wandered off, as she was possibly taken from her bed while sleeping. Her family describes her as mentally sharp, yet she requires a cane for mobility, and she is dependent on life-sustaining medication.

Sheriff Nanos has expressed significant concern about the state of the “crime scene,” indicating that DNA samples are currently under analysis. He has deployed homicide detectives to investigate, despite the absence of a body, which he noted is an unusual step. “It’s uncommon for me to call in our homicide team unless there is a body,” Nanos said in an interview with MS NOW on Monday.

Nanos has also described what he calls the “crime scene” as “very concerning,” saying that DNA samples were being processed after he sent in homicide detectives to investigate. “It’s rare for me to call out our homicide team unless we have a body,” Nanos remarked Monday during an MS NOW interview.
