In an important announcement made on Wednesday, Yum Brands, the parent company overseeing Pizza Hut, KFC, and Taco Bell, revealed plans to shutter several Pizza Hut outlets in the coming months. This decision was disclosed during an earnings call, where the corporation detailed its strategy to enhance the brand’s performance.

Chief Financial Officer Ranjith Roy explained that the company intends to close approximately 250 underperforming Pizza Hut locations by the first half of 2026. This move is part of a broader effort to bolster the chain’s business strategy and optimize its operational footprint.

Reflecting on the past financial year, Roy noted a slight downturn in Pizza Hut’s same-store sales, which dipped by 1% globally in 2025. However, he also highlighted positive sales growth in international markets, particularly in regions such as the Middle East, Latin America, and Asia, showcasing a mixed performance across different geographies.

While the exact U.S. locations slated for closure have not been disclosed, the announcement underscores Yum Brands’ commitment to refining its business model and focusing on more profitable ventures.
