Inset: Kenny Wu (Riverside County Jail). Background: The SpringHill Suites hotel in Palm Desert, California, where Wu murdered his wife and her lover (KESQ).

A 36-year-old man, consumed by anger, awaited his wife and her lover in a hotel parking lot in California, where he tragically stabbed them both to death.

Kenny Wu was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of his wife Yaying “YaYa” Wu and her lover Jesus Sanchez in Palm Desert, according to the Riverside County District Attorney”s Office.

On July 15, 2022, deputies were called to the SpringHill Suites hotel following reports of an assault involving a deadly weapon. Upon arrival, they discovered a man and woman with fatal stab wounds. Both were declared dead on the scene. Nearby, authorities found Kenny Wu with self-inflicted injuries. He was swiftly taken to a hospital for medical attention before being moved to jail.

Prosecutors revealed during the trial that Wu’s violent actions were triggered after his wife made it clear she wanted a divorce. The prosecution highlighted evidence of stalking, domestic violence, infidelity, and ongoing marital strife that culminated in the deadly altercation.

According to City News Service, defense attorney John Dolan explained to jurors that Wu discovered his wife’s affair months before the killings. Initially attempting forgiveness, Wu’s jealousy spiraled out of control as his wife continued her relationship with her lover, Dolan stated.

On the day of the tragic event, Wu learned of a planned meeting between his wife and the man, Sanchez, at the SpringHill Suites. He awaited their arrival, and when they appeared, he launched his attack.

“The rage just exploded,” Dolan told jurors.

He attacked both victims, stabbing them multiple times.

Prosecutors reportedly said Kenny Wu needed to be held accountable for his actions. The jury agreed.

The defendant will be sentenced on April 17.
