Barry Manilow is on the path to recovery following a surgical procedure to excise cancerous tissue from one of his lungs.

“I wanted to keep you all updated. I’m feeling great and recuperating well post-surgery,” the 82-year-old shared in a statement on social media on Wednesday, February 4. “I’ve been staying active and spending some time in the studio, which has been wonderful.”

Back in December 2025, Manilow revealed his lung cancer diagnosis, noting that surgery was necessary to remove a “cancerous spot” from his left lung.

Although the operation was a success, medical advice led to the cancellation of his scheduled performances.

Manilow has candidly discussed his extensive history with smoking. “I smoked for 30 years. I picked up the habit when I was just 9 years old,” the “Copacabana” artist admitted to The Standard in 2012, mentioning that he eventually quit but then resumed smoking before transitioning to vaping. In December 2025, Manilow made it known that he had […]

“With my doctor’s guidance and recommendation, however, we have decided to postpone my residency dates at Westgate Las Vegas from February 12-21 so I can stay focused on healing,” Manilow said on Wednesday, noting he is still planning on embarking on a tour “that’s kicking off at the end of February.”

He concluded, “Having a few extra weeks to rest and prepare is what the doctor ordered! Tickets for the postponed Vegas dates will be refunded.”

Manilow, who did not reveal the new dates for his Sin City concerts, opened up about his latest health battle late last year.

“As many of you know, I recently went through six weeks of bronchitis followed by a relapse of another five weeks,” he wrote in an Instagram statement at the time. “Even though I was over the bronchitis and back on stage at the Westgate Las Vegas, my wonderful doctor ordered an MRI just to make sure that everything was OK.”

Manilow added, “The MRI discovered a cancerous spot on my left lung that needs to be removed. It’s pure luck (and a great doctor) that it was found so early. That’s the good news. The doctors do not believe it has spread, and I’m taking tests to confirm their diagnosis. So, that’s it. No chemo. No radiation. Just chicken soup and I Love Lucy reruns.”

Manilow underwent the procedure after wrapping his A Gift of Love concert series.

“Ironically, I feel great and have no symptoms,” he added in his statement. “I’m thankful that my doctors were proactive and ran tests that typically wouldn’t be done. They caught it very, very early.”

Barry Manilow Diagnosed With Cancer

Barry Manilow has announced that he was diagnosed with lung cancer. “We just finished five great Christmas concerts at the McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert,” Manilow, 82, began a statement shared via Instagram on Monday, December 22. “This marks the seventh time we have done these charity concerts and raised millions for nonprofit organizations throughout […]

The “Copacabana” singer previously battled throat cancer in 2020.

“My family has always been my rock,” Manilow said in a statement at the time, revealing how his family supported him during his health scare. “They kept me grounded and reminded me of what truly matters.”

In addition to his cancer battles, Manilow has dealt with bronchial pneumonia, a mouth tumor, heart issues and had hip surgery through the years.

“I’m fine, I’m waiting for the other shoe to drop. I’m very old, I should not be able to do this,” he previously told the Daily Mirror in 2019. “You saw me going up those stairs on stage — there’s 14 steps up and 14 down, you would think I should be in a wheelchair or something.”
