Over four years have passed since a South Carolina woman, Alexis Ware, mysteriously disappeared, leaving her family and authorities searching for answers.

Alexis Ware, who was 29 at the time, was last spotted on January 22, 2022, at a 7-Eleven gas station in Anderson County. Her vehicle, however, surfaced days later abandoned in a secluded wooded area in McCormick County, as reported by Greenville Online.

Authorities conducted a thorough search of the surrounding woods but found no evidence of foul play. A subsequent tip prompted McCormick County police to deploy bloodhounds in Hickory Knob State Park, yet this search effort also yielded no new information.

In a concerning revelation to WHNS, Ware’s mother shared that Alexis had mentioned being followed by someone in a black truck during one of their final conversations.

The father of Ware’s son reportedly informed Ware’s mother that Alexis had left her two children with him before driving away from the gas station. Initially, authorities considered him a person of interest, as he was the last known person to see Ware. However, he was later ruled out as a suspect for reasons that remain undisclosed.

Ware, who is currently 33, was described as standing between 5 feet 5 inches and 5 feet 6 inches tall, weighing between 215 and 230 pounds, and having brown hair and brown eyes. A description of her clothing was not provided.

Anyone with information regarding Ware’s whereabouts should call the Anderson County Sheriff’s Office at 864-260-4405.

Alexis Ware’s case is being covered as part of Crime Online’s “Finding the Lost: Black and Missing” series, which will feature a missing Black person every day in February. The full series can be read here.
