GRUNDY, Va. (WJHL) — In a significant development for Buchanan County, Council High School may soon merge with other local high schools to form the new Southern Gap High School as early as the upcoming school year.

The Buchanan County School Board took a major step towards this potential consolidation by passing it on first reading during Tuesday night’s session with a 4-2 vote.

Board member Brian Looney put forth the proposal to integrate Council High School into the new institution by August.
