SEMINOLE COUNTY, Fla. – Recently released footage captures the moment Seminole County Sheriff’s deputies apprehended a suspect following a sexual assault on the Seminole Wekiva Trail in August.
Authorities detained 20-year-old Patrick Gamache a day after the crime when someone fitting the suspect’s description was seen near Interstate 4 and State Road 434.
News 6 has been closely monitoring this case since August. According to reports, the victim recounted how she was ambushed from behind, with the attacker covering her mouth and chest, forcing her to the ground. The ordeal lasted several minutes until a passerby intervened, as detailed in Gamache’s arrest report.
This week, the State Attorney’s Office for the 18th Circuit released video footage to News 6, obtained via a public records request. The footage comes from a body camera, an in-vehicle sheriff’s camera, and an FDOT camera.
On the morning of August 19, around 9 a.m., deputies encountered Gamache, who was still in the vicinity approximately 17 hours post-assault. The footage shows him shirtless and without shoes, standing on the I-4 eastbound entrance ramp near S.R. 434.

“What happened?” Gamache can be heard asking as deputies handcuff him and instruct him to face a patrol car.
They search him for weapons and ask for his name.
“Nobody’s gonna tell me what’s going on here?” Gamache asks. “We’re conducting an investigation. We’ll tell you in a minute buddy,” a deputy replies.
Deputies stopped Gamache because they say he matched the description of the suspect from the trail assault. The arrest report describes him as a slender Black male with twist-style hair and states he had a scooter and red shirt.
A picture shared by the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office after the attack, shows the scooter and shirt at the scene. Video shows when deputies arrested Gamache, he was wearing red shorts that appeared to match the shirt that was left behind.
“…very identifiable shirt,” one deputy says. “So, pretty positive it’s him.”
While detectives continued their investigation, the deputies run a quick background check on Gamache and discover he has a warrant out of state for marijuana possession.
“He has a warrant out of Georgia,” says a deputy.
Deputies also ask Gamache why he’s in Seminole County.
“He said he was hitchhiking,” a deputy explains. “He said he was trying to get back to Jacksonville.”
They also ask where he came from and learn Gamache had recently been released from custody in South Florida.
“What brings you down here from Jacksonville?” a deputy asks.
“I got out from Miami-Dade County five days ago,” Gamache responds.
“Jail?” the deputy replies.
“Yeah,” Gamache says.
News 6 obtained an arrest affidavit for Gamache from the Miami-Dade County Clerk of Courts. It states that Gamache was arrested after a robbery in 2023. A woman told officers she was on her way to make a transaction at a bank when a man forcefully snatched $1,700 in cash from her hand.
Online court records show the case was closed on Aug. 12, 2025, just six days before the assault in Seminole County.
Gamache is being held at the jail on a $50,000 bond and faces a charge of sexual battery, a first-degree felony.
His attorney filed a motion asking for his bond to be reduced, which was denied by a judge in January. Court documents also show that a competency evaluation is pending.
Gamache’s next hearing is Feb. 25. He has pleaded not guilty.
