The Nassau County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of two individuals—a teenager and a juvenile—in connection with a Wednesday night incident.

In Nassau County, Florida, authorities reported that an 18-year-old has been taken into custody following an attempted burglary that escalated into a shooting.

According to the Sheriff’s Office, the incident unfolded around 8 p.m. when deputies were dispatched to a home on Clearwater Road. The homeowner had called for help after hearing suspicious “voices and movement” outside. The situation escalated when one suspect allegedly forced open the front door.

In response, the homeowner reportedly fired a gun, hitting one of the suspects, later identified as a juvenile male.

The juvenile was promptly taken to a nearby hospital, where he is recovering in stable condition. Officials have indicated that charges are forthcoming, pending the issuance of a warrant for his arrest.

The second suspect, who had been identified as 18-year-old Anson Shawn Drew, fled the scene after the shooting but was located shortly afterwards by deputies. He was arrested and charged with two counts of burglary and is currently held in the Nassau County Jail.

According to detectives, the homeowner’s actions were justified under Florida’s Stand Your Ground law.
