In Savannah, Georgia, the local Savannah State Tigers men’s basketball team is set to take to the court once more following a challenging two-game stint on the road through Kentucky and Ohio.
The Tigers managed to split their recent games, securing a victory in one but narrowly falling to Kentucky State with a final score of 78-75. This defeat marked the end of a commendable four-game winning streak for the team.
At present, the Tigers occupy third place in the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SIAC). Although they remain within striking distance of Morehouse, which holds the top spot in the Eastern Division, overtaking them appears to be a formidable task.
During the offseason, Savannah State made several strategic additions to their roster. They now harbor ambitions of making a significant impact at the upcoming conference tournament scheduled to take place in Morrow, Georgia.
“Initially, I anticipated a learning curve because every new challenge involves a process,” shared James Leach, a forward for Savannah State. “But once I got acclimated, everything started to click, and it all became much easier.”
“I just work hard. That’s all it is with my game, work hard, push myself to invest potential. I can just play hard and I learned the sets. It was hard learning the sets for me a little bit at first, but then I finally got it.”
Savannah State returns to action tonight against Albany State. The game tips off at 7:30 p.m. at Tiger Arena.
